# Research Overview

**Research is where every GraphDex workflow starts — scan Solana token pairs, compare market activity side by side, and decide what's worth opening in Trading.**

{% hint style="info" %}
On the Polygon (Predictions) side of GraphDex, this section has a parallel — see [Predictions side](/graphdex-docs/research-predictions/research-overview.md).
{% endhint %}

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/JBN29ujDJykAmMONwLxK" alt="Research — New pairs table"><figcaption><p>Research — the default discovery view of the terminal.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Research turns the Solana token universe into three readable tables. Each tab is a different angle on the same live feed: **New** for fresh pairs, **Trends** for sustained activity, and **Gems** for high-signal candidates by GraphDex terminal metrics.

Every row in every tab carries the same column set — Pair, Market Cap, Live Liquidity, transaction count with buy and sell split, Volume, short-window movement, and Audit. The data refreshes continuously, so the table you're reading is the market right now.

A single click on any pair carries the token straight into **Trading**. Research is the first half of the loop; the second half — execution — never lives more than one click away.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Start in Research, end in Trading**

Use the table that matches your time horizon, then open the token page in Trading with one click.
{% endhint %}

## Pick the Right Discovery Tab

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="image">Cover image</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><a href="/pages/nPkrnfWHCY6XuSqRuTjC"><strong>New</strong></a></td><td>Pairs that just appeared on-chain — the freshest row floats up first.</td><td><a href="/files/JBN29ujDJykAmMONwLxK">/files/JBN29ujDJykAmMONwLxK</a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="/pages/WZQiM2dfKN7zOxNYlYJx"><strong>Trends</strong></a></td><td>Tokens with sustained activity across selectable windows from 1m to 24h.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td><a href="/pages/z1VKii2QXuMX27SSgBGc"><strong>Gems</strong></a></td><td>High-signal candidates by GraphDex terminal metrics, refreshed in tight windows.</td><td><a href="/files/dh5jftRzDL6XdZlr6N3A">/files/dh5jftRzDL6XdZlr6N3A</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## NEW

<figure><img src="/files/JBN29ujDJykAmMONwLxK" alt="Research — New pairs"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The **New** tab surfaces token pairs the moment they appear on-chain. It's the place to be when you're hunting the earliest liquidity.

* Newest pairs first — the row order tracks on-chain appearance.
* Live Liquidity, Market Cap, and transaction count with buy/sell split visible per row.
* Audit signals flag tokens that already trip risk filters.
* One-click handoff to Trading on any row.
* New doesn't carry a time-window selector — it's an as-it-happens feed.

## TRENDS

The **Trends** tab is for sustained activity, not just first-second appearance. Pick a window and the table sorts the pairs that have been moving over that window.

* Time windows: **1m, 5m, 30m, 1h, 6h, 24h.**
* Same Market Cap / Liquidity / TXNS / Volume / movement / Audit columns as New.
* Wider windows for trend confirmation; narrower ones for momentum scalps.
* Audit signals stay in view so risk is part of the trend read.

## GEMS

<figure><img src="/files/dh5jftRzDL6XdZlr6N3A" alt="Research — Gems table"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Gems** narrows the universe to pairs that stand out by GraphDex terminal metrics. It's the curated end of Research — tighter windows, stricter signals.

* Time windows: **1m, 5m, 30m, 1h.**
* Same per-row metrics, weighted toward pairs that already prove themselves on volume and holder behaviour.
* Use Gems when you want short-window conviction rather than the full firehose.
* Filters compose on top: layer audit or holder thresholds for a sharper shortlist.

## FILTERS AND AUDIT SIGNALS

Every Research tab carries the same toolbox: filters that narrow the table, and audit signals that flag risky tokens before you click into them.

* Stack filters by liquidity, volume, transaction count, holder count, age, and audit state.
* Audit signals show contract-level risk markers inline on the row — a row stays in view but the flag stays visible.
* Filters compose: combine a tight liquidity floor with an audit-clean filter for a much smaller, much sharper shortlist.
* Filters persist as you switch tabs, so the same lens follows you from New → Trends → Gems.

{% hint style="info" %}
Research surfaces market data and risk signals fast — it does not guarantee a token is safe, liquid, or profitable. Always read the token page and Trading Settings before placing an order.

## FAQs

<details>

<summary>What does each Research tab focus on?</summary>

* **New** — pairs that just appeared on-chain, ordered by first appearance.
* **Trends** — tokens with sustained activity over a selected time window.
* **Gems** — high-signal candidates by GraphDex terminal metrics, in tight windows.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Which time windows are available?</summary>

* **Trends:** 1m, 5m, 30m, 1h, 6h, 24h.
* **Gems:** 1m, 5m, 30m, 1h.
* **New:** no time-window selector — it's an as-it-happens feed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What metrics show on every row?</summary>

Pair, Market Cap, Live Liquidity, transaction count with buy and sell split, Volume, short-window movement (where available), and Audit. Some rows additionally show audit percentage or holder-related signals.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I move from Research to Trading?</summary>

Click any row in any Research tab. The terminal opens the token page in **Trading** with all the same context — chart, holders, order panel — so you can place a market or limit order without re-typing the token address.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What do audit signals mean?</summary>

Audit signals are contract-level risk markers GraphDex surfaces inline on every Research row. They flag concerns such as mint authority, freeze authority, top-holder concentration, and other on-chain heuristics. See [Audit Signals](/graphdex-docs/research/audit-signals.md) for the full list.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is Research a safety guarantee?</summary>

No. Research helps you see data and risk markers faster, but it does not guarantee that a token is safe, liquid, profitable, or executable at the price you expect. Always review the token page, the audit signals, your wallet prompt, and your Trading Settings before placing an order.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://graphdex-1.gitbook.io/graphdex-docs/research/research-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
